What are the steps required to get a permit? 1) You must make an appointment to come to our office to sign up and make a payment (see "service" page for pricing. Check or cash only.). We provide all the needed DMV paper works (without them, DMV will not allow you to take the written permit test). Next, head to your local DMV (by appointment or walk-ins) to take the written permit test. The DMV will then issue a driving permit once you pass the written test. Finally, contact us to set up your behind-the-wheel training.
Where do we service? We provide pick ups and drop offs at home or at the high school at no additional charges. The prices you see on the "service" page is the final price. (However, we are not a "taxi cab" company. Pick ups and drop offs are determined by us, and it is based on our discretion.) We provide services to Natomas, Rio Linda, Rancho Cordova, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights, downtown Sacramento, South Sacramento, Arden area, Elk Grove, and West Sacramento. However, if you live near these areas, you can always meet us there. We will arrange a meeting location to start the behind-the-wheel training for you.
What is the purchased policy? We do not offer any refunds, whether the service has been used or not. However, you can transfer the lessons not taken to another person, provided it is within a year of the purchased date. Otherwise, all services are forfeited if not used within a year after purchase.
Can someone ride along? We do not recommend anyone riding along because in the past it created lots of problems, mainly distractions. We want the student to drive as "naturally" as possible, as if they are by themselves. We are coaches: helping them to improve their skills accordingly and to instill into them wise judgments so that they will be prepared to tackle the streets on their own when they are licensed drivers. Also, all of our vehicles are two-seaters. The only other room is in the trunk!
How long are the sessions and how often? Our behind-the-wheel training is very flexible and accommodating: it is from 5am to 11 pm, 7 days a week, including holidays. Typically, each session is 2 hours long or otherwise indicated. This is up to the instructor only. The total of hours of training is 6. It may be 4 days of 1 1/2 hrs training. Or it may be 3 days of 2 hrs training. You can spread out the lessons over a period of six months or take them all in a week. It is up to you. We do not recommend anything. Because whichever method you chose, it all ends to the same goal: you're going to get your driver license and you're going to be taught how to drive the absolute best way. In this case, the journey does not matter, but the result is what counts: not ever crashing.
What if I don't know how to drive at all? It is okay. We do this every day for the last 9 years. We have taught female and male students of all ages who have never been behind-the-wheel daily. In some cases, after only 6 hrs of training they were able to take their DMV drive test and receive a driver license! So if you're an average person, in the general term of the word, then you don't have anything to worry about. If you want to take extra lessons, then it would not hurt. Don't worry about not having any driving experience. Let us take care of you. This is what we have been doing for the last 9 years day in and day out from sunrise and long after sunset. We understand your fear, nervousness, and insecurities. We are here to help: to let you be you, take it slowly at your own pace, and to let you make mistakes in a supervised and controlled environment so that you can learn and progress from those mistakes.
Why parents, teachers, or coaches shouldn't yell? Yelling destroys something profound and special (creativity and growth) from an individual, regardless of what he or she did wrong. Recovery can take months, years or a lifetime! To get a point across more effectively, it is better to be silence in thoughts/anger and to also express disappointments in the student than to yell at them. Yelling depletes one's emotion, robs one's confidence, and creates unnecessary doubts and insecurities. For all these reasons and from personal experiences, we do not believe in yelling and thus we never yell--no matter what.
What are the differences regarding Absolute Best Driving School and other schools, and why are our prices so affordable? As you can see, our website is designed extremely different from any other driving schools' websites: direct and simple. This website speaks for itself. It is the results of countless hundreds of hours of thoughts and efforts put together over the years, and it continues to be modified as needed, according to time. Also, we are the only driving school in Sacramento that does stick shift, which is very difficult for a company to do and it is also costly. Aside from this, we undoubtedly believe that we are the absolute best (we have dared any driving schools to challenge our instructions and methods and none has stepped up). Matter-of-fact, our attention to the most important details and our analytical skills on the road are god-like. (This gives us, therefore, the power of choreographing endless, exact-real-life driving/accident scenarios: AKA executing hardcore defensive driving skills.) More importantly, we fervently want you to learn from us. This is why our prices are low. We truly believe that those who cross our path are meant to be. By choosing us, it is not random. Most of our customers are family friends or our niche are "hardcore" types of individuals whose lives consist of struggles and obstacles that we understand and respect. This is why parents and students get along with us so well. Life is not easy and there are high ups and down, but moving on is the most important quality of all.
